Not a lot going on. Various commentators have given us some gossip. One commentator noted that a shop next to Eat Sushi was going to open selling clothes. Seems to be activity in what was Home (and what was it before that? I can't remember). Perfect Pizza seems to have lost its sign. Possibly Baker & Spice is to reopen as Clarke's (but note here). Maybe a Pizza Express in Queen's Park.
I've got a good dishwasher repair man, electrician to recommend, and that's about it. Comments on anything welcome.
Heard Circus is going to sell clothes as well.
ReplyDeleteI heard that one unit of Home will become an upmarket "trendy" hairdesser (not Toni and Guy).
ReplyDeleteIf so it will be beside another hairdresser (Kutz? I forget the name). Can both survive side by side?
The hairdressers Alexandros? has aquired half of Home I hear and the old dry cleaners s going to become a Pet Parlour call Just Barking.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know a good local hedge trimmer/garden clearance person? I need some garden tidying and rubble clearance.
ReplyDeleteThank you
I don't I'm afraid. There was a garden company advertising using posters on trees a while back, not heard of them since. There's also the garden shop on Okehampton Road which does gardening, can't say I've used it (the plants outside look a bit ill which is offputting but apparently that's because they are rescued plants, I'm told).
ReplyDeleteI know the garden shop, they charge a fortune and frankly the outside is an eyesore, they may be rescued plants but they could store them somewhere else or move the rubbish. Thanks anyway.
ReplyDeleteWalked past the proposed Tesco site and it looked like they were digging deep down to what could be a basement floor.
ReplyDeleteA friend spoke to the builders on the Tesco site and yes, apparently they are creating a basement floor.
ReplyDeleteWent to The Island yesterday. They had whole Cornish Crab and chips on the menu. My lass said it was amazing. I had lamb with porcini mushrooms and it was yummy. Finished off with a chocolate fondant. Yum.
ReplyDeleteThis place gets better and better.
We went to the Island on Saturday - we were served by a really lovely friendly waitress who told us that they could only fit us in becuase a party of 16 hadn't turned up.
ReplyDeleteThe person I was with had fish & chips while being on a health kick I had skate, spinach & boiled new potatoes. Both dishes were very tasty but the skate turned up swimming in about an inch of butter which I hadn't expected. I mentioned this to the waitress & was immediately offered my choice of desert.....which as i was on the fore mentioned healthkick my partner tucked into.
I really love this place.
Someone mentioned something about a basement before - but is it a store room or another floor? I presume a store room, it's quite a big store anyway.
ReplyDeleteHome - soon to be Alexandros according to anon -has painted its sign black. Big news!
Agree Island is superb we used to gp every couple of months - they tend to change the menu - but haven't been for a while.
ReplyDeleteBaker & Spice - is it Clarke's of Sally Clarke fame that's taking it over?? If so her oatcake crackers are to die for. We get them from the Notting Hill shop, next to her superb restaurant, so will be good (though not for the figure)to have them close at hand.
ReplyDeleteTheir NIbs on Chamberlayne Road is having a kids hairdresser starting next Wed in the afternoon.
ReplyDeleteyes there is to be a really fab ladies clothes shop opening on Station Terrace next to the Sushi bar
ReplyDeleteI need a dishwasher repair man so am interested in your recommendation
ReplyDeleteWe ate in Pomelo last night. Thought the food was really delicious. Not massive portions but very flavoursome. The owner seems really nice and the staff are very friendly. The beef rendang melted in my mouth.
ReplyDeleteWill go again. Still think an ace Italian would do well.
Anyone eaten brunch in Miro's yet?
Apparently Carluccio's is opening up in the old Niki Noodle site, but development of the site is delayed due to a property dispute between Foxtons (who signed a lease then pulled out) and the owners.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was going to be a Pizza Express??
ReplyDeleteEat Sushi have just applied for planning permission to have an outside seating area. Not much room on the pavement, but I hope they get it.
