Police

Last night as I was walking home I saw two Police cars taping off Clifford Gardens and a helicopter flying above. It didn't look good...

I mentioned it on Twitter. I also on Twitter had someone claiming they wanted to buy the shop units under the new flats but Belway wouldn't sell. And it wasn't going to be a Tescos. Any more news on that?

Quick update

A reader kindly says there is some activity at Harvist, so perhaps it is going to reopen? I'd kinda given up.

Also I saw over someone shoulder a big feature on Kensal Rise in one of the London free papers - but annoying I can't find it online anywhere.

Updates

Thanks for all the comments - for some reason the blogger software has stopped emailing them to me so I missed them until now. The blogging became less frequent recently for a number of reasons - I changed job to one where I can't do daytime blogging, we had our first baby (picture to come) and also I thought Park Life was rather saying it all!

So what's new? One comment on a very old post (about the Alice House opening, back in June 2010, which it now has done - any comments?) said that Miro's had closed down which is disappointing. After a run of new openings of shops, cafes and restaurants we've had a few closures in the last few months (such as the health food shop).

The London Overground seems finally to be fulfilling the promises - many more Clapham services and I think after May they'll be running through the day.

The campaign to save Kensal Rise library seems in full fight.

Finally, I've just noticed in our street the meter parking charges are rising - quite a lot - from 40p to 60p for 30 minutes.

Please keep commenting, especially if my newfound zeal shows signs of slacking again.

I'm back

Not a lot of Kensal Rise news to report. There are a lot of summer fetes and so on at the moment, which I'll try to collate. A commenter said that the old Miros/Whytes deli might be a coffee shop/cakes (I think that's the location they meant). Has anyone tried Madaya?

We had a sandwich in Harvist for the first time, which was perfectly pleasant, and there's an art exhibition on, also a lot of events in the evenings.

Where do people get keys cut? I went to Willseden Green, where there are a number of places that seemed reasonable and did a good job.

Minor update

Thanks for the comments about the Olive Branch, it seems most people like it. We haven't been yet, but we do quite like the pizza place in Queen's Park. Talking of which, it looks like Gail's Patisserie is about to open, and the deli Salusbury is closed for another week for refurbishment. I think Queen's Park was hit quite hard by the recession, or perhaps just bad luck, in having both Baker & Spice and the place that was Pizza Teca and the Nikki Noodle closed at the same time, so it's good to see things picking up.

There's various Christmas fetes that I feel I should mention - will have to look up the details as I've forgotten them.

Anything else going on? Miros deli was closed when I passed on Tuesday so I wonder if it's gone for good? I've seen no news about 'The brasserie' on Station Terrace since the licensing application was made in August.
