Yes, the building is Princess Fredericas. Having lived in the area for most of my life, it is hard to mistake the building, railway and roads for beeing any where but Kensal Rise.
Do you have any colour photographs of Kensal Rise in the past? This 'blog began with some but I've never seen any others. It would be fascinating to see how it has changed.
There are good pictures of kensal rise past on images-of-london.co.uk. Some tinted most black n white but all still recognisable.
One pic shows the Manor House on Chamberlayne road! Who knew! not me when I lived there 60 years ago. Must be why there is a Manor House Drive off Sidmouth Road

I think the large building is the school on the corner of Chamberlayne and Harvist Roads.
You must be right but the roads and railway don't seem in the right place!
Here's the current scene

If it is Kensal Rise, it has to be:
College Road crossing the railway,
the large building is Princess Frederica C OF E Primary School
and therefore the Library is just over the bridge.
and the roads closest to the camera are Purves and Ashburnham
Cracked it Rik.
Yes, that's right. Here it is today - almost nothing has changed (the school has an extension)

Rik has it, the view is taken from the direction of chamberlayne just south of the station the road just north of the railway is Clifford Gardens.
