New New New

Lots of new things recently.

The Whippet Inn has replaces Madame Gautier ( a bit of a shame it lasted less than 12 months - victim of poor service?)

Borough Wines is replacing the fireplace shop - bigger market selling to wine drinkers than wood burners

Pomello is being replaced by a new tapas / Greek BYO restaurant - anyone know the name?

Cable_co coffee shop on the bridge is going from strength to strength, but such a shame that Aubrey's has closed (next to Gee's Barbers) it had great coffee, cake and service

Very annoying that we're back on weekend closures of the overground at Kendal rise - longer trains from End of 2015, hmmm, less squeeze, but closures are frustrating.

Anyone good with cars, or recommend a good ( not expensive )garage door a modest, small VW?

I can understand why Aubrey's closed because it was never open in the morning. They ran it for themselves!

Apparently The new Greek restaurant is actually going to be a Turkish restaurant called Fez Mangal. There is one already in Ladbroke Grove - the food is fantastic there - really fresh and always very busy!!!

OMG - I will never leave Kensal again - Always get take aways from Fez Mangle on the way home from work!

MG was victim of poor service and over-priced average (at best) bistro grub.
Jury still out on Whippet Inn, it's a little devoid of atmosphere unless its full.

I thought MG when it was good was very good and it was nice to have a slightly more grown up place to go to occasionally. I think it tried a little hard to be all things to all men. I had a fantastic breakfast one weekday morning in splendid isolation. Not sustainable. I agree replacement is yet to find its feet.

i liked MG ... and there wasnt too many noisy kids screaming the place down. the wippet looks laddish and just another pub - nothing special. shame really qp & kr are in desperate need of nicer places with better food in order to keep the spenders coming back

The Whippet Inn is owned by the same lot who own the Masons and the Island isnt it? Hope its more like the Island than the Masons..altho the Island was pretty dire on Friday night - they had some Dj in there distorting the hell out of 2 massive speakers stuck on the ground floor like it was NH Carnival - save that for the Masons please - over the hill we like to be able to speak over a meal!

Not sure if you are still looking for a local garage but Green Garage in Loveridge Road (underneath the Kilburn Jubilee Line station railway arches) is a specialist VW garage and very highly recommended. And no, I don't work there!

The Whippet still suffers from awful service.

The staff are quite happy to stand around looking in the other way, regardless of the queue at the bar. No excuse.

It'll close soon again.
