A slightly tongue-in-cheek suggestion that Chamberlayne Road should be renamed 'Upper Ladbroke Grove', in order to gain from the cachet that road apparently has. Personally I think Ladbroke Grove should be renamed 'Lower Chamberlayne Road'.

I wouldn't like Chamberlayne Road being re-named Upper Ladbroke Grove but as you suggest Ladbroke Grove should be re-named to lower Chamberlayne Road, cause I think Kensal Rise is by far a much better place to be than Ladbroke Grove.
If you mean me, then no definitely not an estate agent. Just lived in KR for 37 years and love it. Have seen it change so much. Bought a lovely book of pictures called Queens Park - Kensal Rise, Brondesbury & Harlesden and has some great pictures of KR from late 18th century onwards.
I found some postcards once of the avenues off Kilburn Lane from the Victorian times. Think it was shortly after the cottages had been built as the area looked pristine!
I haven't lived here as long as you MK but I've also noticed huge changes in the past 24 years - mostly for the better!
I do miss the portuguese fish shop (where Mile is now I think!) and the butchers on the bridge. And Barclays... but at least the new Tesco will have a free ATM!! Yay!
Yes Matthew had seen the photos you had posted a while back and liked them so much that when I saw the book couldn't resist. I still need to sit down have a proper look, have been too busy to do more than a quick glance.

Completely agree with the above statement!
You're not an estate agent are you??
There's an expensive property for sale on Pember Road (back of William IV) which is described as being "in North Kensington"!!!
VERY North Kensington I'd say!!

I think that's the book from which I got the old pictures of Kensal rise I then spliced with news ones. Did you see those?
