My partner has tried Luca, the hairdressers, and was impressed. He also gave her a free towel, which was nice. I also note that next to Luca there is activity going on (in the "Ho" of Home) which I think someone else pointed out in the comments.

The supposedly Italian is actually "Palm Beach" fish and chip shop with space next door to eat in I assume.
The Olive Branch is on Station Terrace a couple of doors down from the sadly closed down Brilliant Kids.
I know that there have been comments that BK was closed by Ofstead - is this true? Does anyone know if it is going to open again? everything is all still there even a big bowl of eggs on the shelf.
I think the first post is about what looks like a chip shop with a restaurant at the back on Chamberlayne Road near the end of Wakeman - there is another shop next door too !
I also got a cut and colour at Luca and they did a great job...much better than Ego in Queens Park - the stylists are more interested in looking at themselves in the mirror than dealing with customers!
I agree Luca Salon is great - always easy to get an appointment and atmosphere is trendy but not over the top! By far Max is the best cutter and colourist :-)
My husband and i went into the olive branch restaurant last friday night. I have to say that it was one of the worst italian meals i've ever had. The food did not taste fresh at all, the service was OTT and atmosphere lacked. Not good. Not good value for money. Try elsewhere!!!!
Whoever left that unflattering comment about the Olive Branch must have been in a parallel world, my husband and I have eaten there several times ,last time being Thursday 12th Nov. The food has been excellant, very good value for money. Warm and friendly staff and very good wine.Everyone out there, you must give it a try. Best pizza I've tried.

Hi There, I think Kensal Rise is getting very trendy, if we look a few years back and now...... The new business are giving a touch of class to the area... i.e. Luca Hairdresser very trendy and friendly; The Olive Branch best Italian food in the area and great service; Nails & Graces good for a posh pampering.
Just had a haircut at Luca'a with Max, and i'm really pleased with it. Don't enjoy getting my haircut at all usually, so will definitely be back! Good value as well.
I had my haircut back in Sept 2009 and had it cut by Danny and I was very happy.
I returned on Saturday 23rd Jan 2010, Danny had left, so had my haircut by JO (female) . . . well what can I say . . . I almost cried . . . I don't think I have ever had such a bad haircut in my life . . . all weekend I just kept saying I AM SO UPSET and 4 days on I still am . . . it took me 3 years to grow my hair to a length I wanted and I was soo happy with it - it just need layers put in and tidying up . . . as I type I wanna cry . . . I would post a pic but am too embarrassed to - but at least hair grows back!!! :-(
I posted the comment on 27 January 2010 at 09:14 about Luca Hairdressers - I received a call from Max(the owner) wanting to make things right and offered free shampoo, conditioner etc - in the end we settled for a free haircut in the future, I am not sure if I will take this offer up but at least the gesture is there . . . and if nothing else you have to take your hat off to a business man who a) checks blogs about his business and b) is willing to try and make things right . . . Max, thank you I appreciated the call and sorry it has taken me a while to post this comment . . .
Myself and 3 year old daughter had our haircut by Tamem at Luca. It is a very friendly, professional salon and Tamem is an excellent, precise and creative hairdresser who listens to his customer's requirements.
I rate Luca and in particular Tamem & Sandra very highly indeed. (Andrew, Kensal Rise).
I went to Luca in July 2010 as it is very local to me and I'd been before and been happy. I asked the girl (don't know her name - long dark hair) NOT to put any layers at all in, just a tidy up. I emerged with lots of new layers and a lot shorter than i wanted. My hair is curly so it curled right up and looked ridiculous. It's taken me 4 months to get it back to looking reasonable. I am really disappointed and don't know which salon to go to now and my hair is overdue a cut!!

This is Luca's second salon but I didn't catch where his first was.
Alessandro's next to the Chamberlayne pub.
I'm not sure about this first comment. We walked past tonight and it is up as 'Olive Branch' Italian restaurant.
Where is the Olive Branch Italian restaurant please?
Ah, sorry about that there wasn't a sign up. Great news though.

My partner and I went to Luca's to get haircuts. I was very happy with the service.
I got a cut with some good advice for my hair, and my partner got a cut and colour -both well done.
It can get a bit manic sometimes, but they do a good job and I would recommend it.

Here, here to that comment regarding Ego... my sentiments exactly. Once word gets around, I think they will lose a lot of business to Luca.
Went to Luca early in the week and got a super haircut from Danny. Will go again. Tho' was worried that it was empty, hope they don't close down.

I have been to luca last week the place is really nice and modern:) but received very poorly service from the Italian girl that did my hair ..:(
I went to Luca Hairdressers a few weeks ago with my niece and I had a great value haircut from Danny!
Would highly recommend and will be going back when I need another chop!
