The eyesore between the Dinner & Florist about to be no more?

Rik in the comments below:

72 and 74 chamberlayne road (the 2 derelict shops between the Diner and the florist) are about to be sold - it is currently licenced as a drinking establishment (used to be a British Legion) but it could get a licence as a restaurant.

Sale is progressing with exchange to happen soon - so says the selling Agent.

I heard something similar the other day. The rumours are that Soho House have bought the license but cannot confirm.

Whatever it is it will be better than rotting shopfronts.

Speculation of future tenants is likely to be unfounded. It is the sale of the freehold, not the lease which is progressing. Thus who takes on the lease is guesswork - since the property lease is not currently for sale.

If the purchaser is the future occupier (unlikely) - then all ideas are possible

Maybe local resident Tomasina Miers could open a branch of Wahaca there. That would be fab. Also saw Bill Granger in the Rise recently. I know he's opened up another Bills Cafe in Notting Hill but maybe he's checking out locations here too?
