The new flats

We had a look around the new flats. There is a nicely fitted out 1/2 bed showflat, and two or three others that have finished kitchens/bathrooms but no other furnishings. They seemed a reasonable size and had nice balconies, worth a look if you are nosy or interested.  The staff were very helpful.

The gold apparently will not tarnish, so I do wonder whether it is going to dazzle drivers on a sunny day! When the sun hit the balcony it was quite hard to look at it directly.

Anyway I think I'm largely in favour of it, London's house prices are too high and so we have to accept new building, especially upwards. What do other people think?

I've also done some research and it appears there is no decision yet on what the supermarket underneath will be.

The more affluent the people it brings in the more the area will change for the good.

I'm all for it.

speaking of which, the more people that get behind a Crossrail station in the area the better.

Affluent people are great, but lets hope they are not all snobs and bland bankers

Anonymous said...

As snobby as that post?

I suppose all people in your profession are the same, like all bankers are bland?

P (not a banker)

The gold covering (anodized copper) has become popular with architects recently.

examples include the new design for Tottenham Court Road Cross rail station - http://www.hawkinsbrown.com/studio/tottenham-court-road-crossrail-station-over-site-development

Also I've heard that Oxford University have got plans for new a building using it.

Who knows, maybe the new Moberley sport centre will include it - making it the "Golden corner" of Brent.

Shake It is no Puf Po. Says it is a sandwich and espresso bar. Saw the new sign last night. Good luck to them.

The sign has gone from Quint Fasions. Wonder if the therapists is still opening there.

Puf po?

Anonymous said...

No joke. Puf Po.

Anonymous said...

So, where's the best Latte locally?

Personally my vote's for Taste of Chamberlayne!

New "Puf Po" is going to have to do a lot to beat it.

Anonymous said...

I second ToC for best latte.

Anonymous said...

Just walked past Ex-Shake it shop.

I read it as "PUF UP" or "PU FUP"

may it read 'Puf Po' while the sign was being put up...

Anonymous said...

I did read it when drunk, so my mistake. Puf Up it seems to be. Sounds like a shisha hash stoner bar.

Ex Harvist a second Santa Maria Pizza - as of Ealing fame

said to be as good as Franco Manca...

Ahhh, I though so. Heard rumblings on Twitter (no stomach puns intended).

Welcome to The Rise my pizza baking friends.

Speaking of housing prices and Kensal Rise, if anyone knows of or has a 2 bedroom garden flat in The Rise that might want to sell privately please get in touch. @kensalriseblog / Matthew I hope you don't mind me posting, we just wan to find a nice home in the area and not donate too much dough to real estate agents!
I can be reached at @timlad

So, there will be a Sainsburys local and a Nandos under the cheap Saudi bolt hole, AKA City Heights.

Anonymous said...

Sainsburys and Nandos?!

That's a turn for the books.

Nandos, that's a bit random - but then i suppose there's a few chicken cottage type places around. Maybe Nandos will displace a few - fingers crossed!

Puf Up seems to be open, or at least you can see in now. Looks nice.

Puf Up is Open!

Wife pointed out naff sign "hot dog for £1" - but other than that, it looks very tempting

We also looked round the new 'golden' flats, lot of money for what they are and where they are especially some of the outlooks-the plumbers shop with toilets in the window!, the playground of the sports centre! IMHO, it's a vile looking building.
The only saving grace is ( would be) if we got some quality retail shops underneath.
HOWEVER, I do agree that it could bring in more affluent people to the area.

Saw a chap with a Tesco high-vis jacket and hard hat on with the builders on the ground floor of the gold building...not sure if that is 100% confirmation, but it looked it to me.

Anonymous said...

I Spoke to the store manager at Tesco's (Station Terrace) - he said that he's the store manager for the new store under the gold tower, so is getting to know the local area.

That + your High Vis spot = 100% confirmation to me = boring

MKB always said...

Oh dear, that is a disappointment. We already have a Tesco and why would one want 2 so close together. Was hoping it would have been a M&S Simply Food or a Waitrose.

Met a gent from the new pizza place (the Harvist venue) and he said they will be opening in 2 weeks time. Looking forward to trying it out as he said they are the best pizzas in London.

I've heard that a Waitrose is coming to the space under the new golden apartments, can anyone confirm?

Has anyone seem my remote control. I think it may have fallen down the massive gap between the rich and the poor in Kensal Rise.

Met a gent outside the soon to be Pizza place (ex Harvist) and he said they will be opening in 2 weeks time and that their sister restaurant served the best pizzas in town, according to Time Out. Looking forward to trying them.
