New and old things

Crazy Baker has opened next to the gold flats (which I hear are being called "Benson & Hedges" by some people). It was great to see a large selection of bread, and it does savouries, cakes and coffee. This is their website but it hasn't been updated yet to show the Kensal Rise branch (I think).

Thanks to commentator Anonymous for proof that Nandos is coming to B&H.

Finally for now, I saw that Their Nibs was closing down. This was a bit of a surprise, given Kensal Rise's plethora of young parents and it did have to nice things in it, but I have to say something never quite felt right about it. Has the Notting Hill branch gone as well? There does seem to be four concession in Thailand, suggesting perhaps a shift of location.

Their Nibs closing was actually due to the landlord wanting to re-develope the basement. Its is correct we are re-focusing on Far East business plus concessions in Department stores in the UK- the website will be on-going and is been re-developed at the moment to launch at the end of September.
Its been lovely been in Kensal Rise especially as we live here too so feel sad to leave!!

Have you seen this FT article about the gentrification of Queens Park (and taking a little dig at NW10 in the process)!

There is also some local support for the block of gold flats to be called "The Golden Nugget", a name which might appeal to the younger generation (then again so might "Benson & Hedges).

Just saw today that Puf Up was closed and the signage removed. Can anyone throw light on this? What's coming next? That site seems to be doomed with the amount of changes.

One of the old British Legion buildings seems to be a fashion shop now. Good that the run down buildings have a new home.

Looks like Pufup has closed...it was always a bit odd, just a bit too basic to capture the yummy mummy crowd & the weekend brunch market.

What's going on?! 2 pretty serious traffic accidents in 7 days! (in nearly the same place!)

Sunday evening 7th, Car Vs Motor bike at junction with Whitmore Gardens / Chamberlayne Road. Biker injured but not fatally.

Midnight Saturday 13th, Council Smart car crashes into parked cars, near Whitmore Gardens / Chamberlayne Road junction - suggestion was smart car wheel came off resulting in the crash?! Cars damaged, driver injured but not terminally.

Really, what is going on? are people going to fast, is 30mph too fast for chamberlayne Road?

The Island is having a refurb as we speak. It was ace before it got taken over. Let's hope it is not All Bar One style.

Also, sign at the children's playground announcing major refurb of that too.

So looks like The Regent will be no more. It is going to be Parlour (http://parlourkensal.com/). It is currently having a refit. As is The Island which has been completely gutted. It needed it as its heyday passed once they sold it.
