I'm back

Not a lot of Kensal Rise news to report. There are a lot of summer fetes and so on at the moment, which I'll try to collate. A commenter said that the old Miros/Whytes deli might be a coffee shop/cakes (I think that's the location they meant). Has anyone tried Madaya?

We had a sandwich in Harvist for the first time, which was perfectly pleasant, and there's an art exhibition on, also a lot of events in the evenings.

Where do people get keys cut? I went to Willseden Green, where there are a number of places that seemed reasonable and did a good job.

Best place for keys cutting I find is the launderette on Kilburn Lane opposite Hilton Food and Wine. Cheap and good!

Hi, the old Whytes is to be a juice bar.

Best place for keys is the locksmith on Willesden High Road. They can do all sorts of traditional locksmithing, rekeying old locks, repairing locks etc etc way better than a shoe repair/key cutter and just as cheap for basic stuff.

I think Harvist is excellent. They have put on a lot of varied events (art shows, charity sales etc) and have a nice back yard/garden. Worth a visit. have also seen a few evening events going on there as I passed on the bus. An alternative to the pub maybe.

I think that's the one I went to, did an excellent job and seemed, as you say, able to do lots of things. The guy near the tube station (opp the refurbished pub) was OK too on another occasion.

Harvist - Yes, they seem really committed to it. Breakfast this morning was a little disappointing, no croissants etc, but I did get a nice cheese and ham toastie.

What is going on a Paradise - looks like the decorators are in?

Yes, I mentioned that on the Twitter account (see right sidebar). No idea why - their emails don't mention it.

When new things open in kensal & they're not quite Cool & Organic & of course tasteful, I realise what a total Guardian reading, Middle class, style Nazi I've become...........Still that shake place does look a wee bit pinky pikey !!!!!! Although I hear Minkies are starting a Posh Butchers, nice, god there I go again.

We went to Shake It last night & had a couple of icecreams for pudding ...... my comment to my husband was "quite nice, but they aren't artisan icecreams are they!", which also made me sound like a Guardian reading, Middle class, style Nazi. I hung my head in shame as soon as the words left my mouth.

Hi all,
Where is this new place called Shake everyone is shaking about?

The old Whyte's Deli near the dog parlour on Chamberlayne Rd opposite the church.

Rose News on Okehampton Rd is closing down Sunday. What a shame as the woman was super friendly.

The missus had a shake from Shake It. Said it was very nice, but pricey at £4. She probably had an extra cornetto put in it though.

So the new artwork appearing around the Rise. Film quotes. Lexi?

Went to Ida's earlier in the week. The food was absolutely superb though a bit of a wait to get it and in between courses too. However could have been because we were a big group. For a monday night amazingly full. Will definitely go back.
