New cafe 'Aubrey's'

A contact tells me that the clothes shop on Station Terrace, Lali, is being replaced by a cafe, called Aubrey's. I must admit I didn't know the clothes shop had closed down. When was that?

Ah, maybe it has  moved to Golborne Road? Although I think it was open only a few weeks ago in Kensal Rise.

Lali has indeed move to Golborne Rd. she suffered from lack of traffic. She is doing really well now. Just been to the Island for a quick pint. Decor is lovely. Very much like The Mason's Arms, which isn't surprising. The food menu looks classier.

Kid's menu more expensive than Parlour.

I must admit I also didn't notice the replacement of the clothes shop with a Cafe.

I do think that station terrace is unfairly overlooked (it's not much of a thoroughfare [other than for buses]).

BUT, with a few good shops / restaurants, and fewer shipping containers, and buses; it has the potential to be a great focal point for the Rise - it just requires a bit of 'critical mass' before it can bloom!

Tried the new cafe Aubrey's today. Think this place could do really well. The owners were very nice and welcoming. The cakes looked delicious and I was given a taster of their homemade chocolate truffles - yum. My little boy had a cupcake and a macaroon and thoroughly enjoyed both. They have also kept prices very reasonable. The cupcake was only £1 and the macaroon 50p. They only do sandwiches at the moment but they told me they will be doing some nice healthy salads and soups soon. Aubrey (one of the owners) told me he used to be Oliver Peynton's Exec chef so that should give you an idea of the quality of the food / cakes. They also own a catering company which caters weddings and events. Their website is youngandwild.co.uk. Fingers crossed the locals will support this business and it stays open.

Went to Aubrey's twice today. Had a salmon ciabatta (roasted salmon themselves) for just £2.30 which was lovely and a decent coffee. Went back with the boy for macaroons as a treat for him being good at nursery. Homemade and just 50p each.

Will and Aubrey seem like lovely chaps and the place is cozy. It is still awaiting hot food license, but will give Minkues a run for its money I suspect. And at half the price.

Totally shuttered up yesterday. They'll need to open Sundays to be in with a chance...

Yeah, I also saw Aubrey's was shut on Sunday. Spoke to Will today, and he said that they're looking to open on Sundays - potentially starting next sunday?!

That's good news as we went to try it out on Sunday and were surprised it was closed. I realise the owners want time off but you'd think commercially it would be an important day.

Same here - many places like this have Mondays off instead, if at all.

Even Scarlett and Violet are chasing the Sunday trade!

Nando's is opening on 16th Jan. Not happy about it. Aubreys sounds nice, might swing by tomorrow...

New news is that the guy who owns the lovely cooked meat stall in the farmer's market has acquired the Diner and that the guys from the Salusbury are opening an Italian restaurant in Lonsdale Rd. The video shop in QP is to be an opticians.
